The Ultimate Spring Reset: Fresh Starts and Open Windows

The first hit of warm air always changes everything for me. After months of being tucked away inside, the first day of spring feels like one massive exhale. We finally get to crack the windows open to let the stale winter air out and actually hear the birds outside again. If you're like me, winter usually leaves things feeling a bit heavy. The house feels cluttered and my energy stays low because I feel like I've been stuck in a loop. That’s why I love the idea of a spring reset. It isn't just about cleaning your baseboards. It is about clearing out the mental fog and making room for new things.

I usually start my own reset with what I call the ten minute toss. I don't have the patience for a week long deep clean, so I just grab a trash bag and go through one room at a time. Anything broken or just taking up space gets moved out. It's amazing how much lighter a room feels when you just clear off the kitchen counters or that one chair that collects all the laundry. Once the clutter is gone, washing the windows is the biggest game changer. Winter grime blocks so much natural light, but once that glass is clean and the curtains are pulled back, the whole house looks different. It makes the reset feel official.

This season is also when I spend a lot of time refreshing our bookshelves. I love putting away the heavy winter reads and pulling out stories that feel like sunshine. Since I spend so much of my life writing, spring always feels like the perfect time to share the stories I've created with others who are looking for a fresh start. Whether you're looking for a colorful adventure to read with your children or you want to dive into one of my adult books while sitting on the porch, you can find all of my titles available on Amazon. I always feel so much pride seeing my own work tucked into a spring reading nook. There's nothing better than taking a fresh book outside for the first time all year.

I like to use the spring equinox as a second New Year. I look back at the goals I set in January and see what is actually working. If I haven't started a new habit yet, I don't feel guilty about it. I just start today. Spring is all about growth, so it's the perfect time to plant a new goal and see if it sticks. The best part of a spring reset is that it doesn't have to be perfect. You don't have to scrub every inch of your house in one day. Just pick a few small things that make you feel better and start there. Open a window, grab a new book, and enjoy the sun.
